Ingredients

1 Cup unsweetened almond milk
1/2 Cup old fashioned oats
2 TBPS walden chocolate syrup
1 TBSP unsweetened coconut
1 Scoop Chocolate Ultimate Muscle Protein 
2 TBSP sliced almonds

DirectionsPreheat oven to 350 degrees
Spray a glass baking dish with Pam Baking Spray
Mix all ingredients together and transfer to baking dish.

Hi Everyone,

 

I hope you’re all having a great summer so far and, as always, thanks for checking out our August Bodyfit News Letter.

 

First off I would like to say we are very excited to be welcoming a new team member at Bodyfit.  Her name is Erica Caudillo, so please don’t be shy if you see her around the studio!!  She will be a great fit to the team, already holding a national certification in personal training.  Look for her to be in studio 2 instructing TRX classes and joining our personal training team in the near future!

 

That brings me to my next topic.  Since announcing our free fitness assessment (we provide for all of you); it sparked a lot of interest and has not only kept our team busy with assessments, but also given me some great feedback.  One of the more common things I am hearing, is a lot of you aren’t really sure of what services we provide aside from our membership options.

I want to take a minute to touch not only on what services we provide, but more importantly WHY we provide them.  Let’s start with the big picture of the direction we are taking Bodyfit to help explain.  As I am sure you have all seen the video on our website, it was an attempt to express that our expectations for Bodyfit are not to sell you a membership but rather sell you your results!  It’s unfortunate but the fitness industry has grown to become so saturated with quick fix products and services that are designed to achieve results that never last.  This is a much bigger problem than most people recognize! This is due to the fact that with each of these products and their short term gratification, they leave the person who used them with a lack of self confidence and/or a feeling of hopelessness to reaching their final goals after seeing progress, and then losing it!  This, among other facts I need not touch on, are why we are striving to make Bodyfit the place you come to get your results and reach your goals.  A lot of fitness centers make the same claim, but when you get there it’s a simple handshake, a shiny new membership card and you’re on your own.  I hope you will all agree this is not the case at Bodyfit.  We are very blessed to have a standalone team that makes it a standard to make sure each and every member is getting the proper attention they require to ensure their success.

One of the biggest missing links, in my opinion, that all fitness centers should really make a priority (as we do at Bodyfit!) is educating the members on how to achieve their results.  Because, unfortunately, the actual workout is just one small part of the puzzle!!  I feel they don’t provide this information for the most part because they fear that if you actually achieve your personal goals you no longer need their membership.  At Bodyfit, we feel the complete opposite!  We feel that providing you all the tools to ensure your success means we will be that final destination for you.  For most, the results and time spent at Bodyfit will be a journey that will never be forgotten!!  We have seen some huge success stories already!  We really want to make sure each and every one of you have the same opportunity the others have, and it really does start with the free fitness assessment.  Not only is it free but it’s a great way to let a professional take a look at the big picture and figure what is keeping you from that body you want.  You’re all investing your time and money in reaching these goals, why not make sure that time and money is being spent on the proper things!

 

We do offer a lot at Bodyfit, but the few key services I do want to touch on are the following:

          Personal nutrition programming - as much as all of you hate to hear it, I will tell you your diet is 80% of the puzzle to reaching your goals.

 

         Education seminars - as with everything in life, knowledge is power. We want to ensure you have the correct information, especially in this day and age.  It seems everyone is an expert, and has a magic diet or workout.  It is so easy to find the wrong information at your fingertips.

 

Last, but certainly not least, we are introducing Personal Training as a service provided at Bodyfit.  We have a great team of trainers who pride themselves in the success of the members at Bodyfit.

 

I promise to continue to come up with better ways of keeping you all up to speed on what we provide at Bodyfit.  Please be on the lookout for more information.  If any of the services I discussed above are of interest, the best way to get connected with them is to stop by the front desk and set up your free fitness assessment.  We prefer you start with the assessment becauseeven though you may have it in your head that you need help with nutrition or need to work with a trainer, we may find during the assessment these in fact are not what you need.

When I first sat down to write this piece, I started looking back at my fitness journey and I saw a pattern.  At the beginning of each year, I would do the following:

  • Set a New Year’s resolution to lose weight
  • Join a gym and set a crazy work-out schedule that wasn’t realistic to maintain long term
  • Grow frustrated when the scale wouldn’t show the changes as I wanted
  • Focus too much on my end goal weight and give up
  • Start the same New Year’s resolution the following year, but trying a different gym of course.

Bodyfit has helped me break this pattern.  I originally joined Bodyfit hoping to simply lose weight, but other goals have become a priority for me.  Instead of focusing on the scale, I now focus on how much stronger I am physically, how my clothes fit, and my increased energy level.   I feel liberated from the scale, realizing it doesn’t show the inches lost or the pounds of muscle gained.

Upon the recommendation from my cousin, I joined Bodyfit a little over a year ago.  I remember we met for dinner after not seeing each other for a few months and I instantly noticed how much more toned she looked than when I last saw her.  I complimented her on her weight loss and asked what she was doing differently.  She told me about Bodyfit and suggested I experience it for myself.  We attended my first fitbarre class together and I signed up for the 10-day new member package.  After the fitbarre classes, I added TRX classes.  I was instantly hooked.

When I first entered Bodyfit, I immediately noticed the welcoming atmosphere at the studio.  The instructors were very encouraging.  They kept my focus positive by providing modifications to exercises, without making me feel singled out or weak.  I also found encouragement from fellow members who noticed I was new and told me to stick with it.  Many members shared their success stories with me, which helped serve as motivation for my own fitness journey.   I now try to do the same for fellow members – when I see someone struggling with the TRX bands for the first time, I tell them it gets better.  The first class I attended, I was embarrassed by my lack of balance and strength.  Now when I attend a class I’m not concerned if I can do the exercise, I just wonder how many exercises I can do and I am excited to push myself.

Two months ago I met with Dean for a fitness/nutrition assessment; he helped develop an individualized nutrition plan and cardio/strength training schedule.  I would not have been ready for this personal training commitment had I not attended the TRX and fitbarre classes prior. These classes helped lay the foundation and gave me the confidence to push further in my fitness goals.

I work long hours and travel a lot for work, so integrating workouts and proper nutrition were struggles for me.   After meeting with Dean, I have learned how to maintain a good diet, even while traveling on business trips, as well as how to integrate cardio exercise into my routine.  The nutrition plan has completely changed my view of working out and eating.  I learned I need to fuel my body all day, in order to prepare for workouts and my day-to-day activities.

 

The changes were gradual at first – I noticed my arms and legs were becoming more toned.  My pants became looser and old clothes began to fit again.  I also noticed an increase in energy.  Since joining Bodyfit, I have lost 2 pant sizes.  Since starting the training with Dean this summer, I have lost 3 lbs of fat and gained 6 lbs. to muscle.  I have noticed significant increase in core strength, which is very empowering.  It is thrilling to be able to increase the sets of exercises.  In the past I would either struggle with some of them or not be able to do them at all.

Ironically when I started this piece, the first sentence originally read “weight loss journey,” but I quickly changed it to “fitness journey”… as Bodyfit has helped change my perspective on how fitness is a journey and a lifestyle change.  I will be forever grateful for the fitness journey Bodyfit has started me on… and I’m very excited to see how far I can continue to go!
